Why Python is Powerful

Many really popular websites use Python. But why is that? Doesn't it affect the performance of the website?Python is not actually a language, it's a description of a language.
I believe that Python is important for software development. While there are more powerful languages (e.g. Lisp), faster languages (e.g. C), more used languages (e.g. Java), and weirder languages (e.g. Haskell), Python gets a lot of different things right, I know of has done so far. - Fredrik Håård (Programmer)
By learning Python, a student has access to all sorts of fun and interesting platforms that can be explored using tools and code they’re familiar with. Because Python runs on so many platforms, it is feasible to write code for one device and, assuming it doesn’t use device-specific code and run within hardware constraints, it should run on many others.
Companies such as Google, Yahoo!, Disney, Nokia, and IBM all use Python. In fact, among programming languages, Python had the largest year-on-year job demand growth — at 19% — as of March 2013. Notably, the overall hiring demand for IT professionals dipped year over year by 5% as of January 2014, except for Python programmers which increased by 8.7%. In New York, Python developers ranked #8 of the most in-demand tech workers, making an average of $106k/year. On the other side of the Atlantic, Python programmers also enjoy a strongly rising demand for their skills as shown by the following graph.
